Experienced Corpus Christi Lawyer
My father took me to a case when I was about 12 years old. I saw how everyone respected the attorney when he spoke. I decided I wanted to be that person. As the founding attorney at Robert J. Gonzalez, Attorney At Law, I have been dedicated to the community for over three decades as a prosecutor, judge, and Corpus Christi attorney. My family has been in Corpus Christi since the 1860’s and we are devoted to the betterment of the area in everything we do. My wife, Carrie, and my children, Hailey, Hannah, and Robert take great joy and pride in performing community service. Some of my children are also considering following my footsteps into law, of which I am extremely proud.
I Take the Tough Cases for My Clients
One particular case I remember involved a shaken baby syndrome charge. This is a serious felony in Texas. My client was accused of hurting the child and was offered probation. He refused, asserting that he did not hurt the child and the charges against him were not valid. During the jury selection process, one juror said that he would not be fair to my client because he would want to protect the child. The attorney I was working with said that obviously we should strike that juror. I disagreed. I said that we should keep that juror because when we were through, the juror would fight for our client just as passionately as he wanted to fight for the child. While the other attorney thought I was a little crazy to do that, the juror ended up becoming the foreman and fought the hardest for our client. My client was found not guilty by the end of trial. I was later contacted by a shaken baby syndrome association and told that there were very few wins in these types of cases.
Rooted in the Corpus Christi Community for Generations
I am very well known in this area. I have served as Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Vice-Chairman of the Port of Corpus Christi, President of Buccaneer Days (largest festival in Corpus Christi), President of the Young Lawyer’s Association, Co-Chairman of Bold Future and served on the board of many organizations. I also come from two very old and respected Corpus Christi families, the Galván’s and Gonzalez’s. My grandfather Rafael Galvan was the first Hispanic police officer in Corpus Christi, was a founder of the LULAC and was a very successful and well-known businessman. He also owned the Galván ballroom.
Why I Believe Communication Is Key
It is always better to stay in regular contact with your attorney and his office staff. However, sometimes there is less contact because of the type of case it is or because of what is going on in the case. Nevertheless, I encourage my clients to call whenever they feel it is necessary to discuss their case.
